Commercial (CDL) Drivers

Federal Motor Carrier Administration (FMCSA) has extended the requirement to carry the paper copy of the DOT card until January 30, 2015.  Initially drivers only needed to carry the paper copy of the DOT card for 14 days beginning January 30, 2014.

CDL Drivers Medical Card Requirements

ALERT **On May 21, 2014, Utah CDL drivers needing a DOT card will be required to have their medical examinations performed by a Certified Medical Examiner listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's National Registry.  https://nationalregistry.fmcsa.dot.gov/NRPublicUI/home.seam

DOT card issued before May 21, 2014 will be honored until their expiration date.  Cards issued on or after that date will not be accepted by the Division and will need to be issued by a provider on the National Registry.

All CDL drivers must comply by submitting a DOT card and a Medical Self Certification to the Driver License Division by January 30, 2014 or they must downgrade.  Drivers that fail to comply or downgrade will have the driver license disqualified and denied.
